welcome

I became aware yesterday that someone had stolen young photos of Nathan and created fake FaceBook profiles with them. This after the year before last, someone did the same to me using photos they had stolen of me from Flickr and created profiles on FaceBook as well as MySpace. It's frustrating and I have giving in to paranoia, but this doesn't just affect me anymore, it affects my son. So, as of now, if you want to see personal photos, you have to be a friend or family on Flickr. If you are a friend or family member and not currently seeing them, please let me know.

Back in 1997 when David and I started up Outland Design, we launched an ezine called Gaff Magazine. It was like Maxim, aimed towards men with articles about tech stuff, travel, current politics, and news. It was meant to serve as a show peice for what we could do and it worked well, Gaff brought us a lot of attention at the time and we got a lot of work from it.

Gaff awards were given to people in the news who shouldn't have been. We had a movie review section and that was cool since we got press passes to screenings all the time and free stuff to promote the movie. There was also a swimsuit model in every issue who we featured local models available to us in Oklahoma City. David finally got his act together and put his photography on Flickr and featured a few of our Gaff models at the time.

I was the official Gaff reflector guy for these photoshoots. :)

Flickr added some new layout features this last week and I am very pleased with most of it. The new layout for the front page with larger display of images was a good start, however the old layout as well as a few others are still an option. Adding collections was a big feature for me, I can now organize my travel photos so much better and the layout options work well. For instance, All of my Australia travel photos are in a much more manageable layout, allowing me to better organize the different destinations but keep them under an Australia group.

I would like it if collections could be displayed alongside sets if you wish but perhaps that's for a future update.

Good work flickr kids!

new photosets archived to flickr last night;

Italy, Rome, Aviano AB, Portenone. Yes, I have rolled up jeans there, it was the early 90's.

Florida 2001, Daytona Beach, Panama City, NASA. A well needed road trip at the time.

Mexico City, Mexico, 1993. Band geek photos from going there on a band trip in College.

Virgin Islands Cruise 1993. Not much but a few added.

I just found this tonight. Probably the most interesting photo critique I have ever had. Apparently it's a UFO conspiracy website and they have used a few of my photos of NYC this last September as proof of evidence that invaders are with us. The writer apparently speaks broken english but makes for some interesting comments. You have to scroll about half way down the page to see where he starts to refer to absolutwade.

Some of the more fun quotes:

"It knows to Lasadh? is a human of very sweet look..."
"but to its eyes utilizes them to look at birds..."
"Its colleague Absolutwade does neither look with the Third Eye..."
"He is a man and Lasadh his admirer…"
"The 9-11-06 both were taking photos of the Towers of Light..."
"and the violet point what is? A "twinkler? It is difficult to see the reality when the flying snakes do not exist not even inside the imagination of the observer and we integrate our mental images with the objects that know..."
"Birds that shine like stars or fireflies? The photography of Absolutwade respects the image although it understand not finally. And that is enough to come to know the truth.-"
"Absolutwade was looking at a ROD from the window of its house, but sees an airplane… there is not comments because not to have swum that can be told since the ignorance..."
"Finally, we should indicate that Absolutwade does not ignore that the invaders of the space exist, the open windows of the buildings of NYC and the absences in the time..."

I am still confused if he liked my work or not. It's a shame they didn't find this one, they would have thought it was conclusive proof.

Flickr has added a new feature; geotaging your photos to a map. That is, to place your photos on a world map allowing you to see the precise location of where the photo was taken. A nice step for the flickr guys.

update: you can also link to detailed area maps with points of interest such as New York, Oklahoma, Europe, Asia, or Australia / New Zealand in my case.

If you are on a mac and have the latest version of iPhoto '06, this is a neat feature in sharing photos. I thought I would update a photocast every so often including some of my better works as well as some outakes. However you like to read RSS feeds, you can see it here: http://photocast.mac.com/absolutwade/iPhoto/absolut-weekly-photocast/index.rss

Yes, I know it's just the same guy screaming into the camera but some of these are hilarious to read.

My camera is broken. :(

This is not my cat, but I approve this message. Hehehe.
