welcome

One of the longest trips taken in a while and I got to actually dust off the camera and take some photos again. Most of the photos I wasn't terribly pleased with due to the grey and cloudy sky, I thought many of my black and whites of Chicago in 2002 were better but on the last night I took some great evening photos of Buckingham fountain and the city skyline.

Drove out of the city to a little suburb that was picturesque but the town was abandoned due to the holiday, everyone was probably at the lake. Starbucks was about as interesting as it got on the visit of any local shops.

I have to say every time I visit, I like Chicago even more. It's a very clean city, well planned, good atmosphere and less gouging on their prices when not on the mile in downtown. It reminded me a bit of Sydney with the skyline near the water and such great views. It's a town built to get out and do things for everyone. Dare I say, I found myself enjoying it more I think than New York.

Speaking of New York, here's something I found out; If you wear a New York Yankees ball cap around in Chicago, you will quickly find out how many Red Sox fans there are willing to tell you how good the Red Sox are. Good for them, but why do they assume I need to care? I always root for the underdog and glad they finally won but sometimes people just like a blue cap that has a pretty good logo on it.

Off to Chicago for a few days. Hopefully the rain will be less than the downpour here in NYC. Went by and checked out the USS Kennedy air craft carrier today and was amazed at the size of the floating city. Pictures to come later.

Looking down from the Sears Tower (The tallest building in north America, one of the tallest in the world) is a bit humbling. All of the buildings below look like insignificant play toys and you know the view is very deceptive. Chicago was a neat place and I took the 35 mm optical camera this time to try out some Black and White photography.
